KnitBits® #1
The free e-mail newsletter from Berroco
#1, November 9, 2001

Dear Knitters and Fashion Enthusiasts:
Welcome to KnitBits, Berroco's free e-mail newsletter to the fashion
knitter. I am pleased to have this forum to talk about trends, details,
what my associates and I are knitting, what people are wearing, the
latest and hottest thing in knitting and fashion.

This newsletter is being introduced at a difficult and fragile time in
our history. During this time, people want to make something of their
own at home. Instead of flocking to the malls, we are nesting at home.
We want to make something beautiful, something real, and share it with
those we love. We want to be comfortable, to do something we know how to do, to learn a manual skill or technique, to connect with our past, with
our personal and family history.

So what are knitters knitting? They're knitting scarves. Scarves to
warm, scarves as beautiful and bright accessories. My scarves of choice
are the boa in Zap in book 206 and the chic warm-up keyhole scarf in Chinchilla.Either one is quick knitting, a hot fashion accessory that will be greatly appreciated by the wearer. This trend will welcome those of you who have just discovered the pleasures of knitting. Knitting up a quick scarf allows you to create something beautiful with new skills.

As your skills improve, you will be able to make Berroco garments which
will become the "must haves" of your wardrobe. My assistant Elizabeth is
knitting a Chai scarf and a zippered jacket in Lang Teddy. She's
trimming it with Zap. Elizabeth is fortunate to be able to wear our
sample size. We are always trying things on her during the design
process for fit and for styling purposes. She is the same size as our
photography models, so that I know that if it looks good on Elizabeth it
will look good at photography. Today Cindy, one of our employees,
learned to cast on using the long tail method. She is so enthusiastic
about knitting and she has a long wish list of what she will knit from
our collection.

I am knitting Eliana in browns. You can see it in greens here.. I haven’t decided yet whether I will trim it in Zap. If I weren't so busy designing next
Fall's line I would be knitting Cassandra in SensuWool™. Jackie and
Natasha from the Fall 01 collection (Book 204) would be great
additions to my wardrobe.. Throughout the years in this industry I am
always working on designing the next line and rarely have the time to
focus on my personal wardrobe. I envy those of you who have time to knit
your wardrobes.

Whatever you're knitting, you know that you are in good company. We'll
be sending you our newsletter every 2 weeks and hope that you find it a
source of inspiration- for fashion, fit, and knitting trends.

Knit on!
