SIZE

Approximately 8” around x 9” high (Including ears)

 

MATERIALS

1 Ball BERROCO KELTIC (50 grs), #5963 Galloway

1 Ball BERROCO SUEDE (50 grs), #3717 Wild Bill Hickock

Straight knitting needles, size 8

1 St holder

Tapestry needle
Two 1” buttons for eyes
/!\ WARNING:
CHOKING HAZARD
- Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.If you intend to make this project for children 6 years old or younger, please use embroidered eyes in place of button "eyes".

 

NOTE

There are no gauge requirements for this project

 

BODY

With straight needles, using Keltic, cast on 32 sts.  Work even in St st for 6”, end on WS.

Chin:  K16, sl remaining sts to st holder.  Beg with a p row, work even in St st for 7 rows, end on WS.

Dec Row (RS):  K1, (k2 tog) 7 times, k1 – 9 sts.

Dec Row 2 (WS):  P1, (p2 tog) 4 times – 5 sts.  Break off yarn leaving an end.  Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needle.  Pull up tightly and fasten securely.

Muzzle:  With straight needles, using Keltic, cast on 5 sts.

Inc Row 1 (WS):  (P1, yo) 4 times, p1 – 9 sts.

Inc Row 2 (RS):  K1, (k1, yo) 7 times, k1 – 16 sts.  Beg with a p row, work even in St st for 9 rows, end on WS.

Head:  K16 sts of muzzle, then k16 sts from holder – 32 sts.  Beg with a p row, work even in St st for 7 rows, end on WS.

Dec Row 1 (RS):  K1, (k2 tog) 15 times, k1 – 17 sts.

Dec Row 2 (WS):  P1, (p2 tog) 8 times – 9 sts.  Break off yarn leaving an end.  Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needle.  Pull up tightly and fasten securely.

Mouth Lining:  With straight needles, using Suede, cast on 9 sts.

Inc Row (WS):  (P1, yo) 8 times, p1 – 17 sts.

Row 1 (RS):  (K1, p into back loop of yo) 8 times, k1.

Row 2 (WS):  (P1, k1) 8 times, p1.

Row 3 (RS):  (K1, p1) 8 times, k1.  Rep Rows 2 and 3 until piece measures 4” from beg, end on WS.

Dec Row 1 (RS):  K1, (k2 tog) 8 times – 9 sts.

Dec Row 2 (WS):  P1, (p2 tog) 4 times – 5 sts.  Break off yarn leaving an end.  Thread end into tapestry needle and draw through all sts on needle.  Pull up tightly and fasten securely.

Ear (Make 2):  With straight needles using Keltic, cast on 7 sts.  Knit 1 row, purl 1 row.

Dec Row 1 (RS):  K2, sl 2 sts knitwise, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over knit st, k2 – 5 sts.  Purl 1 row.

Dec Row 2 (RS):  K1, sl 2 sts knitwise, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over knit st, k1 – 3 sts.  Purl 1 row.

Dec Row 3 (RS):  Sl 2 sts knitwise, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over knit st – 1 sts.  Fasten off.

Ear Lining (Make 2):  With straight needles, using Suede, cast on 7 sts.  Complete same as ear.

 

FINISHING

Sew mouth lining to chin and muzzle.  Sew ears to ear linings.  Sew ears to top of head.  Sew side seam.  Sew on buttons for eyes. /!\ WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts.
