FINISHING
Bag Edging:  With RS facing, using crochet hook and CC, * insert hook into an eyelet of Eyelet Rnd just below top of bag and pull up a long loop, yo and pull through loop, ch 2, rep from * around, join with a sl st in first st.
Rnd 2:  Sl st into ch-2 space, ch 3, work 2 dc’s into same space, ch 1, * work 3 dc’s in next ch-2 space, ch 1, rep from * around, join with a sl st in top of ch-3.  Fasten off.
Strap Edging:  With RS facing, using crochet hook and CC, work in Reverse sc around all edges of both straps, working 3 Reverse sc’s in each corner.  Join with a sl st in first Reverse sc.  Fasten off.  Weave pull chain in and out of every other eyelet around Eyelet Row near top of bag.  This will be the pull cord to close bag.  Sew 1 end of each strap to bag bottom ½” out from ring at center (the ends of the 2 straps should be approximately 1” apart).  Bring each strap outward across bag bottom and sew strap to last rnd of bag bottom working through double thickness of bag bottom and strap.  Bring straps up opposite sides of bag top to bag edging and pin in place.  Sew straps to bag top 3½” down from the bind off row of bag edging and again at bound-off edge of bag top, working through double thickness of bag top and strap.  Starting on the inside of bag, carefully separate strands of yarn 2½” down from top of bag edging and insert ½” long bolt through bag top and strap.  Screw on an acorn nut.  Repeat 1” above first bolt and nut.  Repeat on opposite side with the other strap.  Lap free end of one strap over the other by 5” and sew ends tog.  Starting on the inside of straps, insert one ½” bolt through double thickness of straps ½” in from each strap end and ½” in from side of straps.  Screw on acorn nut.  In the same manner, place bolts and acorn nuts ½” in from the other side of straps, then place 2 more evenly centered between the first 2 sets.  There should be 3 sets of bolts and acorn nuts evenly spaced ½” in from each side edge of straps.  Sew one 1” diameter brass ring to last rnd of bag bottom evenly centered between straps.  This is the front of bag.  Thread the ring at base of snap hook onto second brass ring, then thread brass ring through 2 eyelets of Eyelet Row in center of back edge of bag.  Bag can now be closed by tightening the pull cord, folding the back edge of bag forward and fastening snap hook over brass ring at bottom of bag front.
