Cowgirl Belt

BERROCO SUEDE (50 grs), 1 ball each
#3737 Roy Rogers (MC) and
#3717 Wild Bill Hickock (CC).
Crochet hooks, sizes 4.00 mm (F) and 5.50 mm (I).
Optional: Twenty-nine 1/4” blue glass beads and fifty-eight 1/8” metallic glass beads.
One 2 1/4” wide silvertone buckle from JHB with a 1 1/2” wide bar.

 

GAUGE
10 sc’s = 1 1/2”; 9 rows = 2” in Sc with MC, using size F hook.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

BELT
With smaller crochet hook, using MC, ch 11.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 10 sc’s.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each ch across. Rep Row 2 until belt is 1” shorter than desired length. Dec 1 st at each end of the next 4 rows – 2 sc’s remain. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING
Edging: With larger crochet hook and CC, beg at end of starting ch of belt, work in sc around sides of belt, inserting hook 1/2” in from edge (do not work across starting ch). Fasten off. Sew starting ch to straight bar of buckle. If desired, sew beads to belt as shown in photo or design your own pattern.
