MATERIALS
6(7-8-9-10-11) Hanks BERROCO CAPTIVA (50 grs), #5522 Sugared Peach
Straight knitting needles, sizes 6 (4.00 mm) and 8 (5.00 mm) OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
29” Length circular knitting needle, size 6 (4.00 mm)

GAUGE
18 sts = 4”; 25 rows = 4” in St st on larger needles
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

BACK

With smaller straight needles, cast on 110(126-138-154-166-182) sts.

Ribbing:  Row 1 (RS):  K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.

Row 2:  P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across.  Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 2” from beg, end on RS.  Change to larger needles and p the next row, dec 38(44-48-54-58-64) sts across – 72(82-90-100-108-118) sts.  Work even in St st until piece measures 5(5-5½-5½-6-6)” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes:  Bind off 5(5-6-6-7-7) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the following 2 rows – 58(68-74-84-90-100) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every RS row 2(5-5-8-9-12) times – 54(58-64-68-72-76) sts.  Work even until armholes measure 7½(8-8½-8½-9-9½)”, end on WS.

Shape Armholes:  Bind off 5(5-6-6-8-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 4(5-6-7-7-8) sts at beg of the next 4 rows.  Bind off remaining 28 sts for back neck.

LEFT FRONT

With smaller straight needles, cast on 54(62-70-78-82-90) sts.  Work in ribbing same as back for 1”, end on WS.

Shape Neck:  Dec Row (RS):  Work to last 4 sts, k2 tog, k2 – 53(61-69-77-81-89) sts.  Work even in ribbing as established until piece measures 2” from beg end on RS.  Change to larger needles and p the next row, dec 18(22-25-28-28-32) sts across – 35(39-44-49-53-57) sts.  Working in St st, rep neck dec on next row, then every ¾" 12(11-12-12-12-11) times more.  AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 1” above end of ribbing, mark neck edge for beg of neckband;  when piece measures 5(5-5½-5½-6-6)” from beg, end on WS.  Continuing to work neck decs, shape armhole same as back.  When all armhole and neck decs have been completed, work even on 13(15-18-20-22-24) sts until armhole measures 7½(8-8½-8½-9-9½)”, end on WS.  Bind off 5(5-6-6-8-8) sts at armhole edge once, then 4(5-6-7-7-8) sts twice for shoulder.

RIGHT FRONT

Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping.  Work neck decs at beg of RS rows as k2, SSK.  Bind off for armhole and shoulder on WS rows.

SLEEVES

With smaller straight needles, cast on 70 sts.  Work in ribbing same as back for 1”, end on RS.  Change to larger needles and  p the next row, dec 24 sts across – 46 sts.  Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 3(2-1½-1-¾-¾)” 4(6-8-11-13-15) times – 54(58-62-68-72-76) sts.  Work even until sleeve measures 12” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Cap:  Bind off 5(5-6-6-7-7) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the following rows – 40(44-46-52-54-58) sts.  Dec 1 st each side every RS row 14(14-15-15-15-17) times – 12(16-16-22-24-24) sts.  Bind off 3(2-2-5-4-4) sts at beg of the next 2 rows.  Bind off remaining 6(12-12-12-16-16) sts.

FINISHING

Sew shoulder seams.  Sew in sleeves.  Sew side and sleeve seams.

Neckband:  With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at marker on right front, pick up and k74(78-86-86-94-98) sts along right front neck edge, 42 sts across back neck edge, then 74(78-86-86-94-98) sts along left front neck edge to marker – 190(198-214-214-230-238) sts.  Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as back for 1 row, end on WS.

Inc Row (RS):  K2, M1, work to last 2 sts, M1, k2 – 192(200-216-216-232-240) sts.  Rep this inc every RS row 5 times more, working incs into ribbing as sts become available – 202(210-226-226-242-250) sts.  Work 3 rows even, end on WS.  Bind off in ribbing.
