SIZES
Directions are for women’s size Small/Medium. Changes for size Large/X-Large are in parentheses.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Width – 35(37)”.
Length – 24(25)” (to longest point).

MATERIALS
BERROCO LAVISH
(50 grs), 8 balls #7319 Donatella (A).
BERROCO QUEST (50 grs), 3(4) hanks #9808 Platinum (B).
29” length circular knitting needle, size 13 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Note: The circular needle allows you work with more stitches than would fit on straight needles. You will not work in the round, but will turn at the end of each row and work back.
2 Small safety pins for markers.

GAUGE
10 stitches = 4”; 14 rows = 4” in Pattern Stitch.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

PATTERN STITCH
Rows 1-4: With A, knit.
Row 5 (Right Side Row): * Using B, insert point of right-hand needle through stitch as if to knit. Wrap yarn twice around needle, then pull these 2 wraps through and slip them from left-hand needle (2 stitches made from knitting 1 stitch). Repeat from * across row. This will give you twice the number of stitches that you had.
Row 6: * Using B, knit the first stitch, then drop the next stitch. Repeat from * across row. This will return you to the original number of stitches.
Repeat these 6 rows for Pattern Stitch.

NOTE
When changing yarns at the beginning of a row, pick up the new yarn from underneath the old. The yarn not in use may be carried loosely up the side of work. Keep yarn tight enough not to leave long loops, but loose enough that it doesn’t pull the edge of the work. This will eliminate multiple ends to work in when finished.

LEFT PANEL
With circular needle, using A, cast on 120(125) stitches. Work even in Pattern Stitch until piece measures approximately 12 1/2(13 1/2)” from beginning, end when you have just finished a wrong side row with A. Bind off all stitches using A.

RIGHT PANEL
With circular needle, using A, cast on 57(59) stitches. Work even in Pattern Stitch until piece measures approximately 18(19)” from beginning, end when you have just finished working Row 2 of Pattern Stitch. Fasten off B.
Neck Opening: Next Row (Right Side Row): With A, bind off 25 stitches, then knit to the end of row.
Following Row: With A, knit 32(34), then cast on 25 stitches. Join B, then beginning with Row 5 of Pattern Stitch, work even until piece measures 36(38)” from beginning, end when you have just finished working a wrong side row with A. Bind off all stitches with A.

FINISHING
On Right Panel, sew first bound-off stitch to last cast-on stitch of neck opening (this forms the left edge of neck opening). On Left Panel, measure in 6” from each end of bound-off edge and mark with safety pins (see schematic). Pin left edge of Right Panel to bound-off edge of Left Panel between markers. Sew these edges together. Steam flat if necessary.
