SIZES
Directions are for women’s size X-Small. Changes for sizes Small, Medium, Large and X-Large are in parentheses.

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust – 36(40-44-48-54)”.
Length – 21(21-1/2-22-22-1/2-23)”.

 

MATERIALS
BERROCO FURZ (50 grs), 4(4-5-5-6) balls #3834 Black (A), 4(4-5-5-6) balls #3812 Black on White (B) and 4(4-5-5-6) balls #3811 White on Black (C).
(NOTE: #3812 Black on White has been discontinued, but another color may be substituted.)
Straight knitting needles, size 10 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
2 St Markers.

 

GAUGE
4 sts = 1”; 6 rows = 1” in Reverse St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

STITCH GLOSSARY
ELASTIC BIND-OFF
K2, * pull first st over second st, but do not drop loop from LH needle. K next st on LH needle, slipping both sts off needlle. 2 sts remain on RH needle and 1 st has been bound off. Rep from * until all sts have been bound off.
Note: Use this method of binding off if you tend to bind off very tightly or if working with yarn that has little or no stretch.

 

STRIPE PAT
Working in Reverse St st, work (2 rows B, 4 rows A) twice, (4 rows B, 2 rows A) twice, 6 rows B, 2 rows A, 10 rows B, 2 rows C, 4 rows B, 2 rows C, 2 rows B, 4 rows C, 2 rows B, 6 rows C, 2 rows B, 2 rows C, 2 rows B.
These 70 rows form Stripe Pat.

 

BACK
With size 10 needles, using A, cast on 73(81-89-97-109) sts.
Row 1 (RS): K1, * p1, k1, rep from * across.
Row 2: P1, * k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 2” from beg, end on Row 2, dec 1 st at end – 72(80-88-96-108) sts. Beg with a p row, work even in Reverse St st until piece measures 4-1/2” from beg, end on WS. Join B and work even in Stripe Pat until piece measures 12-1/2” from beg, end on 46th row of Stripe Pat.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the next 4 rows – 56(64-72-80-92) sts. Work even until 70 rows of Stripe Pat have been completed, then work all sts in C. When armholes measure 6(7-7-8-8)”, end on WS.
Shape Neck: P14(18-22-26-32), place marker, M1p, p28, M1p, place marker, p to end. Continue to inc 1 st after 1st marker and before 2nd marker every RS row 4 times more. AT THE SAME TIME, when armholes measure 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2-10)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders: Bind off 7(9-11-13-16) sts at beg of the next 4 rows, dropping markers on last row. Work even on 38 sts of neck for 2-1/2”, end on WS. Bind off all sts using Elastic Bind-Off.

 

FRONT
Work same as for back.

 

SLEEVES
With size 10 needles, using A, cast on 37 sts. Work in ribbing same as for back for 1-1/2”, end on Row 2, decreasing 1 st at end – 36 sts. Beg with a p row, work in Reverse St st, inc 1 st each side every other row 0(0-0-0-2) times, every 4th row 0(0-7-15-18) times, every 6th row 4(14-9-3-0) times, then every 8th row 8(0-0-0-0) times – 60(64-68-72-76) sts. AT THE SAME TIME, when sleeve measures 9-1/2(8-3/4-8-1/4-7-3/4-7-1/4)”, end on WS. Join B and work in Stripe Pat, continuing to work incs until sleeve measures 17(16-/12-16-15-1/2-15)” from beg, end on 46th row of Stripe Pat.
Shape Cap: Continuing to work in Stripe Pat, bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 2 sts at beg of the next 22 rows. Work 2 rows even. Bind off remaining 8(12-16-20-24) sts. Note: When 70 rows of Stripe Pat have been completed, work all sts in C.

 

FINISHING
Steam pieces lightly. Sew shoulder and neck seams. Sew in sleeves, easing to match stripes. Sew side and sleeve seams, matching stripes.
