SIZES
Directions are for women’s Small. Changes for sizes Medium, and Large are in parentheses.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust – 36(40-44)”.
Length – 20(20-1/2-21)”.

MATERIALS
BERROCO MOHAIR CLASSIC (43 grs), 5(6-7) balls #B1138.
29” length circular knitting needle, size 9 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Straight knitting needles, size 9.
Crochet hook, size 5.00 mm (H).
Cable Needle (cn).
St Markers.

GAUGE
8 sts = 2”; 12 rows = 2” in Cable Pats.
16 sts = 7”; 12 rows = 2” in Lace Pat.
8 sts = 2”; 12 rows = 2” in Reverse St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTE 1
This garment is knit in 1 piece to underarms, then split for back and fronts.

NOTE 2
Due to sts added at underarms for sizing, there will be a cable running up the side of each armhole on size Medium and 2 cables on size Large. Size Large will also have 8 sts of Reverse St st at each underarm.

CABLE PAT 1 (Worked over 4 sts)
Rows 1 and 3 (RS): Knit.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.
Row 5: Sl 2 sts to cn and hold in BACK, k2, then k2 from cn.
Row 6: Purl.
Rep these 6 rows for Cable Pat 1.

CABLE PAT 2 (Worked over 4 sts)
Rows 1 and 3 (RS): Knit.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.
Row 5: Sl 2 sts to cn and hold in FRONT, k2, then k2 from cn.
Row 6: Purl.
Rep these 6 rows for Cable Pat 2.

LACE PAT (Worked over 16 sts)
Row 1 (RS): P1, k4 tog, (k1, yo) 6 times, k4 tog, p1.
Row 2: Knit.
Row 3: P1, k14, p1.
Row 4: K1, p14, k1.
Rep these 4 rows for Lace Pat.

BODY
With circular needle, cast on 98(114-130) sts. Purl 1 row.
For Size Small ONLY: Establish Pat Sts: Row 1 (RS): K1, * work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Lace Pat over 16 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, place marker, rep from * 3 times more omitting last marker, end k1.
For Size Medium ONLY: Establish Pat Sts: Row 1 (RS): K1, * work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Lace Pat over 16 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, place marker *, ** work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Cable pat 2 over 4 sts, place marker **, rep between *’s twice more, rep between **’s once, rep between *’s once omitting last marker, end k1.
For Size Large ONLY: Establish Pat Sts: Row 1 (RS): K1, * work Row 1 of Cable pat 1 over 4 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Lace Pat over 16 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, place marker *, ** work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, place marker, p8, place marker, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, place marker **, rep between *’s twice more, rep between **’s once, rep between *’s once omitting last marker, end k1.
For ALL sizes: Keeping 1 st at each edge in Garter St and remaining sts in pats as established, work even until piece measures 12” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Work 22(26-30), sl these sts to holder for right front, bind off next 6 sts, work until there are 42(50-58) sts on RH needle after bound-off sts, sl remaining 28(32-36) sts to holder for left front.

BACK
Change to straight needles. Keeping 1 st at each edge in Garter St, work even in pats as established on 42(50-58) sts until armholes measure 7-1/2(8-8-1/2)” from bound-off sts, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 7(9-11) sts at beg of the next 4 rows. Bind off remaining 14 sts for back neck.

RIGHT FRONT
With WS facing, sl 22(26-30) sts from first holder to straight needles. Join yarn and, keeping 1 st at each edge in Garter St, work even in pat as established until armhole measures 5-1/2(6-6-1/2)” from bound-off sts, end on WS.
Shape Neck and Shoulder: Work 5 sts and sl these sts to holder for collar, work to end. Work 1 row even. Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next row, then dec 1 st at neck edge on next RS row. Work even on 14(18-22) sts until armhole measures 7-1/2(8-8-1/2)”, end on RS. Bind off 7(9-11) sts at beg of the next 2 WS rows.

LEFT FRONT
With RS facing, sl 28(32-36) sts from holder to straight needles. Join yarn and bind off 6 sts, work to end – 22(26-30) sts. Complete to correspond to right front, reversing all shaping.

SLEEVES
With straight needles, cast on 34 sts. Purl 1 row.
Establish Pat Sts: Row 1 (RS): K1, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Lace Pat over 16 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 1 over 4 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Cable Pat 2 over 4 sts, k1. Keeping 1 st at each edge in Garter St, work in pats as established, inc 1 st each side every 10th row 0(0-9) times, every 12th row 0(4-0) times, every 14th row 0(3-0) times, then every 18th row 5(0-0) times, working incs in Reverse St st – 44(48-52) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 16” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side of every RS row 10 times, end on WS. Bind off remaining 16(20-24) sts.

FINISHING
Steam pieces lightly. Sew shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew sleeve caps into armholes with sleeve seams centered over bound-off sts of armholes.
Collar (Right Side): With WS facing, sl 5 sts from right front holder to straight needles. Join yarn and inc 1, then work to end. Keeping 1 st each side in Garter St, work even in Cable Pat 1 until collar, when slightly stretched, will reach to center back neck. Bind off all sts or slip to holder to be woven later.
Collar (Left Side): With RS facing, sl 5 sts from left front holder to straight needles. Join yarn and inc 1, then work to end. Complete same as for right side, WORKING Cable Pat 2. Sew bound-off edges of collar tog (or weave tog). Pin inner edge of collar to neck edge of sweater with seam at center back neck. Sew in place.
Edging: With RS facing, using crochet hook, join yarn at lower edge of right front and work in sc along right front, neck and left front edges. DO NOT turn. Working from LEFT to RIGHT, work in reverse sc around same edges. Fasten off.
