MATERIALS
BERROCO COTTON TWIST (50grs), 11(12-13-14) hanks #8379 Stone.
Straight knitting needles, size 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
24" length circular knitting needles, sizes 7 and 8.
Stitch holders.

 

GAUGE
15 sts = 4"; 38 rows = 4" in fisherman’s rib pat with size 8 needle.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

Sl 1, k2tog, psso.

FISHERMAN’S RIB PAT (even no. of sts)
Row 1(WS): Purl.
Row 2: *P1, k1 st in row below (K1B); rep from *, end p2.
Rep row 2 for fisherman’s rib pat. Be sure to rep ONLY row 2. Row 1 is worked only once as a setup row.

 

BACK
With size 8 needles, cast on 66(70-74-78) sts. Work in fisherman’s rib pat until piece measures 10" from beg.
Shape Raglan Armholes: Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Dec Row (RS): Rib 5 sts, k3tog, rib to last 9 sts, SK2P, rib 6 sts. Rep dec row every 8th row 8(10-9-8) times more, then every 10th(0-6th-6th) row 1(0-2-4) times. Sl remaining 22 sts to a holder.

 

FRONT
Work as for back to armholes. Note: Read before continuing to knit.
Shape Raglan Armholes and Neck: Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Work dec row same as back on next RS row then rep dec every 8th row 4(6-9-8) times more, every 10th(10th-0-6th) row 3(2-0-2) times and AT THE SAME TIME, when armhole measures 4-1/2(5-5-1/2-6)", shape neck as follows:
Next Row (RS): Sl center 10 sts to a holder. Working both sides at once, dec 1 st from each neck edge every other row 3 times, then bind off 2 sts from each neck edge twice, 3 sts once.

 

LEFT SLEEVE
With size 8 needles, cast on 46(50-54-58) sts. Work in fisherman’s rib pat until piece measures 2-1/2" from beg. Note: Read before continuing to knit.
Shape Cap: Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Work dec row same as back on next RS row then work decs on right edge(beg of RS rows) every 10th(10th-8th-8th) row 5(8-3-6) times, every 12th(0-10th-10th) row 2(0-6-4) times, and AT THE SAME TIME, work decs on left edge(end of RS rows) every 12th(10th-10th-8th) row 4(2-6-2) times, every 14th(12th-12th-10th) row 1(4-1-6) times, then bind off from same edge(beg of WS rows), 3 sts 4 times and 2 sts once.

 

RIGHT SLEEVE
Work as for left sleeve, reversing right edge and left edge shaping on cap.

 

FINISHING
Do not block pieces. Sew raglan sleeves into raglan armholes.
Turtleneck: With larger circular needle, work across sts from holders or pick up as follows: 22 sts from back neck, 14 sts across top of sleeve, 12 sts along side of front neck, 10 sts from front neck, 12 sts from other side of front neck, 14 sts from top of sleeve - 84 sts. DO NOT JOIN. Working back and forth, beg with a WS row, work even in fisherman's rib pat for 4", end on WS. Change to smaller circular needle and work even in fisherman's rib pat for 3-1/2" more, end on WS. Bind off loosely in ribbing. Sew neck seam, reversing seam over last 3-1/2". Sew side and sleeve seams.
