MATERIALS
BERROCO SENSUWOOL® (50 grs), 13(14-14-15) balls #6534 Beaujolais.
Straight knitting needles, size 8 OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
24" length circular knitting needle, size 8.
Crochet hook, size 4.00 mm (F).
3 BERROCO buttons #A534 Beaujolais
4 St Markers.
1 St Holder.

GAUGE
5 sts = 1"; 7 rows = 1" in St st.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTE 1
Back of this garment is 1" longer than front.

NOTE 2
Reverse St st edgings at lower edges and neck edge of this garment are added during finishing. This edging is included in Finished Measurements

BACK
With straight needles, cast on 95(105-115-129) sts. Work even in St st for 3", end on WS. Cast on 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows - 101(111-121-135) sts. Mark for beg of sideseams. Work 2 more rows in St st.
Chart Placement
Next Row (RS):
Work Row 1 of Chart B over 7 sts, place marker, k to last 7 sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Chart C to end. Keeping center sts between markers in St st, work even until 11 rows of charts have been completed, end on RS. Beg with a p row, drop markers and work even in St st until piece measures 12" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armholes: Bind off 3(3-4-5) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, bind off 2(2-3-4) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, bind off 2(2-3-3) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every 4th row 3 times. Work even on 81(91-95-105) sts until armholes measure 5(5-1/2-6-6-1/2)”, end on WS.
Chart Placement
Next Row (RS):
K 35(40-42-47) sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Chart A over 11 sts, place marker, k to end. Keeping sts at each side in St st, work even until 11 rows of chart have been completed, end on RS. Beg with a p row, drop markers and work even in St st until armholes measure 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2)”, end on WS.
Shape Shoulders and Neck: Bind off 7(10-10-11) sts, work until there are 22(24-24-28) sts on RH needle, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 23(23-27-27) sts, k to end. Working both sides at once, bind off 7(10-10-11) sts at beg of the next row, then bind off 8(9-9-11) sts at beg of the next 4 rows. AT THE SAME TIME, bind off 4 sts at each neck edge once, then bind off 2 sts once.

FRONT
Work same as for back until piece measures 2" from beg, end on WS. Cast on 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows - 101(111-121-135) sts. Mark for beg of sideseams. Work same as for back until piece measures 7" from beg, end on WS.
Chart Placement
Next Row (RS): K 45(50-55-62) sts, place marker, work Row 1 of Chart A over 11 sts, place marker, k to end. Keeping sts at each side in St st, work even until 11 rows of chart have been completed, end on RS. Beg with a p row, drop markers and work even in St st until piece measures 9" from beg, end on WS.
Divide for Placket
Left Side:
K 48(53-58-65), p 5, sl remaining sts onto holder for right side - 53(58-63-70) sts.
Next Row: K 5, p to end. Keeping 5 sts at center edge in Reverse St st for placket facing and remaining sts in St st, work even until piece measures 11" from beg, end on WS.
Shape Armhole: Bind off 3(3-4-5) sts at beg of the next row, then bind off 2(2-3-4) sts at armhole edge once, bind off 2(2-3-3) sts once, then dec 1 st at armhole edge every 4th row 3 times. Work even on 43(48-50-55) sts until armhole measures 6(6-1/2-7-7-1/2)”, end on RS.
Shape Neck: Bind off 5 sts at beg of the next row, then bind off 4 sts at neck edge once, bind off 3(3-4-4) sts once, bind off 2(2-3-3) sts once, bind off 2 sts once, then dec 1 st at neck edge EVERY row 4 times. Work even on 23(28-28-33) sts until armhole measures 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2)”, end on WS. Shape shoulders same as for back.
Right Side: With RS facing, sl sts from holder onto straight needle. Join yarn and inc 1 st, k to end - 49(54-59-66) sts. Work even until piece measures 11" from beg, end on RS.
Shape Armhole: Bind off 3(3-4-5) sts at beg of the next row, then bind off 2(2-3-4) sts at armhole edge once, bind off 2(2-3-3) sts once, then dec 1 st at armhole edge every 4th row 3 times. Work even on 39(44-46-51) sts until armhole measures 6(6-1/2-7-7-1/2)”, end on WS.
Shape Neck: Bind off 5 sts at beg of the next row, then bind off 3(3-4-4) sts at neck edge once, bind off 2(2-3-3) sts once, bind off 2 sts once, then dec 1 st at neck edge EVERY row 4 times. Work even on 23(28-28-33) sts until armhole measures 8(8-1/2-9-9-1/2)”, end on WS. Shape shoulders to correspond to left side.

SLEEVES
With straight needles, cast on 43(43-45-45) sts. Work in Reverse St st for 1/2”, then work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 4th row 7(16-19-28) times, then every 6th row 14(8-6-0) times. AT THE SAME TIME, when sleeve measures 1" from beg, work 11 rows of Chart A over center 11 sts, keeping all other sts in St st. When all incs have been completed, work even on 85(91-95-101) sts until sleeve measures 17-1/2” from beg, end on WS.
Shape Cap: Bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 2 rows, bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 6(0-8-10) rows, bind off 3 sts at beg of the next 6(12-8-14) rows, then bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 4(4-4-0) rows. Bind off remaining 33 sts.

FINISHING
Steam or wet block all pcs to measurements.
Back Lower Edging: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at marker on lower left edge of back, pick up and k 16 sts along left edge to corner, place marker, pick up and k 1 st in left corner, place marker, pick up and k 95(105-115-129) sts along cast-on edge, place marker, pick up and k 1 st in right corner, place marker, pick up and k 16 sts along right edge to marker - 129(139-149-163) sts.
Row 1 (WS): Knit, working M1 before first marker and after second marker at each corner - 133(143-153-167) sts.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: Rep Row 1 - 137(147-157-171) sts. Bind off all sts purlwise.
Front Lower Edging: Work same as for Back Lower Edging, picking up 12 sts along side edges instead of 16 - 121(131-141-155) sts.
Steam pieces (See instructions on page 1). Sew shoulder seams.
Collar: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at right front neck edge, pick up and k 21(21-22-22) sts along right front neck edge, pick up and k 40(40-42-42) sts across back neck edge, pick up and k 21(21-22-22) sts along left front neck edge to start of placket facing (DO NOT pick up sts across placket facing) - 82(82-86-86) sts.
Note: When working Short Rows, to hide wraps on sl sts, work to just before wrapped st of previous row, lift wrap onto LH needle with point of RH needle and k or p tog with wrapped st.
Short Rows: K 53(53-57-57), * WYIB, sl next st purlwise, bring yarn to K side of work, sl same st back to LH needle, turn, bringing yarn to P side of work *, p 24(24-28-28), ** WYIF, sl next st purlwise, bring yarn to K side of work, sl the same st back to LH needle, turn, bringing yarn to P side of work **, k 32(32-36-36) hiding wrap, rep between *’s once, p 40(40-44-44) hiding wrap, rep between **’s once, k 50(50-54-54) hiding wrap, rep between *’s once, p 60(60-64-64) hiding wrap, rep between **’s once, k to end. Work even in St st until collar measures 3" at center back, end on WS. Sl these sts onto a straight needle, cut yarn. With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at left front neck edge, pick up and k 10 sts along left edge of collar, place marker, pick up and k 1 st in left corner of collar, place marker, k across sts on straight needle, place marker, pick up and k 1 st in right corner of collar, place marker, pick up and k 10 sts along right edge of collar - 104(104-108-108) sts. Work 3 rows same as for back lower edging. Bind off all sts purlwise.
Optional Inner Collar Facing: On inside of neck, with WS facing, using circular needle, pick up and k 82(82-86-86) sts just below where collar sts were picked up. Beg with a p row, work in St st for 3 rows. Bind off all sts. Sl st bound-off edge to collar, covering selvage edge.
Button Placket: With RS facing, using straight needles, pick up and k 40(42-44-48) sts along right edge of placket opening. Beg with a k row, work even in Reverse St st for 1", end on WS. Bind off all sts.
Buttonloops: With WS facing, using crochet hook, join yarn in top outside corner of button placket. Sl st in first 2 bound-off sts, ch 6, skip 3 bound-off sts, * sl st in next 10(10-11-12) bound-off sts, ch 6, skip 3 bound-off sts, rep from * once, more, sl st in each bound-off st to end. Lap button placket over placket facing and sl st across lower edge. Sew on buttons. Sew in sleeves. Beg at markers, sew side and sleeve seams.
